Questions

Is freediving dangerous?

Freediving with training and a buddy is a safe sport; freediving alone is not. On the course an instructor follows you down on every dive, from the surface to the bottom and back, and you learn to recognise your limits before you reach them. There are no mandatory depth or time targets, our team includes professional competition safety divers, and we're proud of our safety record.

I'm a scuba diver. Is this the course for me?

Yes. Freediving is a different discipline, so a scuba certification doesn't carry over, and the Freediver course is where everyone starts. Your comfort in the water helps; most scuba divers find the first day harder than they expect and the second day easier.

I want to take a course, but I'm a bit scared.

It's normal to feel nervous! Our highly experienced Instructors ensure your safety at all times. They'll accompany you on every dive, from the surface to the bottom and back up again. The Apnea Total Education System emphasizes a pressure-free learning environment, with no mandatory depth or time requirements. Plus, our team includes professional Competition Safety Divers, and we're proud of our spotless safety record.

I can only hold my breath for 30 seconds. Can I still become a Freediver?

Of course! That's what freediving courses are for! You'll be amazed at how much your breath-holding time improves as you learn more about your mind and body through freediving.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer?

Comfortable in open water, not fast. Freediving is slow and relaxed by design; a calm swimmer gets further than a strong one who can't relax.

How deep will I go?

The course is certified to 21 metres over two and a half days. Day one is theory, breathing and equalisation; the diving starts on day two.
